See you later, 2022 (here’s what we learned).

This time of year makes us all more introspective. I don’t know about you, but if January me could talk to December me, she would say, “WTF?” Reflection is such an important part of moving forward, so let’s take a look at a few lessons, realizations & goals that 2022 gave to me.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱:

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. Because of unresolved issues, or a love for drama, some people like to fight & take any opportunity to provoke an argument. No matter how inflammatory, not every comment needs a response. Protect your peace.

𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦. Discomfort is where the growth is.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜’𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱:

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦. My choices are going to be the subject of gossip & that’s ok. Whatever perception people have about me is none of my business.

𝘚𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. I’m allowed to prioritize my own time, money & energy. It’s okay to say no, even if it disappoints people.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜’𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳:

𝘋𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. I decide the rules, I determine how the points are scored. I succeed because I have decided it’s so, regardless of anyone else’s standards.

𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭. Failure doesn’t define my worth. “Never a mistake, always a lesson”

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗜’𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿:

𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘵. I don’t have to “earn” the right to take care of myself. Rest is necessary, not a reward for running myself ragged. I will take time for me without feeling bad about it.

𝘈𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 / 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱. We won’t be looking at it as being dependent on others, we call it “using our resources”.

We sincerely hope that 2022 was full of growth, experiences and valuable lessons for you. May 2023 bring you joy, peace and prosperity.
